Intercity Passenger Rail

Rail passenger service operated by Amtrak as part of its national passenger rail system.

Fixed Route Bus

Bus services provided on a repetitive, fixed schedule along a specific route with vehicles stopping to pick-up and deliver passengers to specific locations.

Shared Ride / Demand Response

Shared-Ride/Demand Response service offers the community door-to-door transportation services throughout Pennsylvania and subsidizes the cost of that service for senior citizens. Passengers must make trip requests at least one working day in advance of the trip, and must be willing to share the vehicle with other passengers.

Intercity Passenger Bus

Scheduled, fixed route service along routes which are considered essential links in the regional/statewide network of intercity bus services, but which cannot be financially supported solely from user fares.

ADA Complementary Paratransit Service

Paratransit or other special service required by the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) as a complement to fixed route service that is comparable to the level of fixed route service provided to individuals without disabilities. Eligible individuals are functionally unable to use fixed route transportation because of their disability.

Persons With Disabilities Half-Fare Program

Individuals with disabilities, presenting a Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Reduced Transit Fare Identification Card or a Medicare Card at the time of fare payment, ride for half-fare on fixed route transit service during non-peak periods.

Persons With Disabilities Discount Program

Persons with disabilities pay a portion (approximately 15%) of the general public fare for advance reservation, shared-ride transportation service.

Senior Free Transit

Senior Citizens, 65 and older, ride free on local fixed-route service whenever the local public transit system is operating. Schedules and hours of service are available by contacting the local public transit agency. Senior citizens must present a Commonwealth I.D. Card or a Medicare Card.

Senior Discount Program

Registered Senior Citizens 65 and older pay only 15% of the general public fare for advance registration, shared-ride transportation service.

Welfare to Work Program

The Welfare to Work Program funds transportation to work and to child care for members of families whose incomes are lower than the 235th percentile of the Federal Family Poverty Income Guidelines and who are therefore eligible for the Temporary Assistance to Needy Families (TANF) program.
